Police officers, firefighters and council officials will be on the Westmill Estate in Hitchin on Saturday to try to clean up the area and give local people tips to keep themselves and their property safe.

People will also be able to hand in electrical items such as televisions and kitchen appliances to be recycled.

This Community and Environmental Action Day has been organised by the North Herts Community Safety Partnership, made up of North Herts police, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue and North Herts District Council.

North Herts Homes, North Herts Care Line, Trading Standards and the RSPCA will also be there.

The event is scheduled for September 26 in John Barker Place, from 10am to midday.
