The school held a special assembly for the pupils to introduce them to the Sport Relief cause, and the work it does to help vulnerable people in both the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

From there, they were given sponsorship forms to take home, and the decision was made that they would run 10 laps around the school field.

Teacher Kirsty Burley said: “It has been a massive success. It was lovely to see the staff taking part and the parents being involved.

“The children really understood the cause and were so proud of themselves for achieving their mile.

“We are astounded that our school community have raised such a substantial amount and are humbled by all of the support given to this event.”

Altogether the children raised £1,905.50 for Sport Relief, which has seen £38 million donated UK-wide.
