Like great beer and live music? Well why not combine the two at a popular Hitchin event this week – and all for a good cause.

Kodeine – a popular group on the North Herts live music circuit – led by the haunting vocals of Jayne Mason, with Rob Le Plar on bass guitar, are set to wow thirsty punters at the Best of British Beer Festival at the Half Moon pub on Queen Street in Hitchin.

Their acoustic set is being held as part of a fundraising for the town’s long-running Rhythms of the World festival. The band, fresh from a stunning live set at The Albert pub on Saturday, features Jayne and Rob, and includes Chris Rowland on bass.

Rob Le Plar said: “We’re really looking forward to it. Live music is so important and we’re happy to support such a long-standing music festival in any way we can. We enjoy playing acoustic sets as it’s a different sound and vibe. Songs come across more directly when they’re stripped down to basics.” Catch Kodeine from 3.30pm to 4pm in support of Rhythms of the World.
