A ROBBER armed with a large kitchen knife went into Whitwell sub-post office in High Street and threatened a female member of staff.
He demanded money from the till and cigarettes before making off in a car.
The incident happened at around 7pm on Tuesday last week.
The following evening, a man went into Ashwell Village Store in High Street and threatened the owner before fleeing in a car with cash and cigarettes.
l A 19-year-old Stevenage man has been charged with two counts of robbery.
Treymaine Davis, of Oaks Cross, appeared at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Friday.
He is also accused of a burglary in Denton Road, Stevenage, between September 16 and 19, stealing a Renault Clio from Denton Road, and two driving offences.
Davis was remanded in custody to reappear before magistrates at a date yet to be fixed.
