A Hatfield teenager has faced court after having a kitchen knife in a public place in Stevenage.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Stevenage Youth Court on November 1.

He admitted being unable to give a reasonable excuse for having the knife in Wellfield Court, Stevenage, on September 11.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, again in Stevenage on the same date.

He was given a four-month detention and training order.

The court also ordered him to pay victim services £30.
