Three adults and a child have been taken to hospital after a head-on crash between a car and a van in Knebworth this afternoon.
London Road was closed at the junction with Swangley’s Lane following the crash at the corner of London Road and Gun Road at about 12.50pm. It was cleared and reopened at 3.30pm.
The head-on crash, which an eyewitness told this paper was “horrific”, involved a Nissan Micra car and a Citroen Sprinter van.
Despatchers sent an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance to the scene, along with three ambulance crews and an ambulance officer. Crews from Stevenage fire station also attended and provided trauma care alongside police and paramedics.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said at 3.20pm that four casualties – three adults and one child – had all been taken to Lister Hospital by ambulance to be treated for what were described as “minor injuries”.
