A huge music event will be held in the grounds of Knebworth House to raise funds for a cancer charity which specialises in supporting chemotherapy patients with hair loss.

Let The Music Play – The Big Reunion is now in its fifth year and on Saturday, November 17, will see 10 DJs across three rooms play music from the 60s and 70s, as well as disco, soul, jazz funk, Motown and funky disco house classics.

Last year’s sellout event had more than 800 people attending, raising more than £3,000 for Cancer Hair Care, which is based in Stevenage Old Town and supports chemotherapy patients who have lost their hair.

The charity’s founder, Jasmin Julia Gupta, said: “We have had a challenging year raising much-needed funds for the charity.

“Now we hope people will fancy a few steps on the dance floor and come for a great night out, for what is our biggest fundraiser of the year.

“The grounds of Knebworth House are a fantastic venue and it really has an amazing atmosphere on the night.

“It’s a great night out and raises much-needed funds for us to continue to support people through cancer treatment.”

Jo Gates, who owns Jo Gates Hair Salon in the Old Town and is also a hair loss specialist at Cancer Hair Care, said last year’s event “was a magical night”.

“It was really amazing,” she said, “and the style of music is something everyone can relate to. The marquees were all set up with fairy lights and everyone had such good time.”

Jo became involved with the charity when she had clients come to her for advice and she felt she did not have all the answers.

She now opens up her salon every Wednesday morning on behalf of the charity.

Cancer Hair Care not only provides advice on all hair loss issues, wigs, scarves and new hair growth, but aims to help with both the physical and psychological issues of those who have lost their hair – sometimes just providing a cup of tea and a shoulder to cry on.
