A hugely popular Knebworth dog show has been cancelled this weekend as professionals advise that the heat is unsafe for pooches.

Organisers of DogFest, which was meant to be taking place this weekend at Knebworth House, have decided to cancel the event.

They announced today that due to predicted temperatures in excess of 27 °, that it would be unsafe for the dogs to be in the heat all day.

A spokesperson said: “These conditions are not in the best interests of visiting dogs and families due to the associated risks, and our main concern is for the welfare of our visitors – dog and human.

“We have taken extensive advice from our team of welfare officers and vets who agree that other factors beyond our control such as journey times, walks from the car park, traffic and queues cannot be guaranteed.

“Our number one priority is that everyone who comes to DogFest has a safe, enjoyable time and as it stands this is at risk due to the predicted weather conditions.

“We are sorry for the disappointment and disruption caused to everyone who was looking forward to attending DogFest South, but as dog lovers, we trust you agree this is the right thing to do for our animal friends and family.”

The show will be post phoned until 2019 due to scheduling constraints.

Organisers have promised that full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders within a 30 day period.
