A GROUP of youngsters got on their bikes to celebrate the opening of a new track.

The dual slalom track has been built at the back of the recreation field on Stocks Lane, Gamlingay, after a long campaign by young riders to have their own facility in the village.

At a special ceremony the slalom was officially opened by Cllr Vicky Ford of South Cambridgeshire Council.

Around £3,500 was raised from a combination of grants from many organisations including the parish council to complete the track.

But the whole project was instigated and driven by the young group of bikers who have transformed a disused bike track often used for dumping rubbish into a superb landscaped dual slalom track with table tops, obstacles, seating and signage.

Young bikers were also supported by village charity Forward Gamlingay and the track represents another completed project for the charity that is dedicated to improving facilities for residents.
