SUPERMARKET staff went bananas at the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.
Workers at the Co-op in The Hyde, Stevenage, took part in a simultaneous banana eating bonanza on Monday.
To promote the shop's Fairtrade bananas, 25,000 staff across the country munched on the fruit at 10am.
There was also a Fairtrade stall set up in Stevenage on Monday in the town centre.
Food samples and advice was given out to passers-by, and pupils from Stevenage schools, including Barnwell, attended the stall.
Stevenage steering group co-ordinator Alex Lang said: "It was about creating awareness for Fairtrade and it went very well."
