A major employer in Letchworth GC has warned its staff that up to 20 jobs could go.
UniChem, the UK wholesale division of Alliance Boots, employs 370 people at its depot in Avenue One, on the Letchworth Business Park.
Staff were told yesterday (Monday) that 20 jobs are under threat under the company's re-organisation plans.
A statement from UniChem said it was re-organising its business to improve efficiencies for it to be able to provide excellent service levels to customers, while managing its cost base. The company is now in talks with unions about the proposed changes.
Jeremy Main, managing director of UniChem, said: "In the changing marketplace, we are permanently striving to adapt and further improve our business to become even more flexible and remain a front runner ahead of our competitors.
"These changes will ensure that we continue to make a difference by offering the best possible service to our customers to satisfy their needs and expectations.
