JOBS are under threat at one of the biggest employers in Stevenage.
Fujitsu, the technology giant which employs 670 people at its Cavendish Road site, has announced that 12,500 jobs are to go across the UK to combat slumps in profits.
But a spokesman for the company, which has four main sites in London, Manchester, Bracknell and Stevenage, said it was too early to say which locations would be hardest hit.
"We are not actually looking at redundancies on a geographical basis but looking at jobs by function." He said. "We are looking at HR, marketing and account development as well as engineering service functions. In Stevenage we do a lot of help desk work and a lot of administration."
A consultation process will begin after September 10 and last for 90 days before a decision is made on where the axe will fall.
