Burglars smashed their way into a house in Hitchin through a window on Thursday evening, taking jewellery – and police have now appealed for witnesses.

The burglary happened in Strathmore Avenue between 5.30pm and 8.20pm on Thursday, November 16.

Someone got into the back garden and smashed a window before getting in and searching the home. They took jewellery before making off.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area at the time stated or who has any information that could help officers should call police on 101, quoting crime reference G1/17/3615.
