SUCCESSFULLY cracking codes to find the names of places associated with the Second World War earned Janina Scheuber a high-flying prize.

She entered a World War Two in Britain quiz organised by Letchworth Garden City Tourist Information Centre.

Entrants had to solve eight anagrams of places around the country that helped with the war effort – cracking the code to reveal places such as Bletchley Park; Whitby and Coventry.

Janina, from Stevenage, was chosen at random as the winner of a coach trip for two to Bournemouth Airshow, courtesy of Stevenage Group Travel.

Heather McLaughlin, the manager of the tourist information centre, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the interest we’ve had for our competition, receiving over 50 entries. Congratulations to Janina.”

The quiz is still available online at www.letchworthgc.com for anyone who would like to give it a try.

It was run as part of a town wide World War Two theme of events. There’s still the chance to see the First Garden City Heritage Museum’s current exhibition World War Two in Letchworth Garden City. For more details visit www.gardencitymuseum.org or call 01462 482710.
