STEVENAGE Boro are aiming to cut a real dash at their Wembley appearance in May.

Mark Stimson's FA Carlsberg Trophy finalists will be wearing a specially commissioned kit for the clash against Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, May 12 (2.15pm kick-off).

The one-off strip to mark Boro's first ever visit to Wembley - and the first competitive fixture at the revamped stadium - will be predominantly white with a red trim.

Harriers will be playing in their traditional red kit.

Boro's special kit will soon be available to buy but the club stress it is likely to be worn just once at Wembley.

A range of merchandise will soon be available in the club shop as well as the Broadhall Suite on matchdays.

Ticket details and prices have not yet been announced although the FA did finally confirm this week the new £800m stadium will host this year's Trophy, Vase and FA Cup finals.

The Trophy final will also have a capped capacity yet to be announced.

Boro chairman Phil Wallace said: "This will be a historic day for Stevenage Boro Football Club, and the entire town of Stevenage.

"Now the most important aspect is to get behind the team.

"It will be the first cup final ever to be played at the new Wembley and it's likely that if everyone in Hertfordshire got behind the club, we could exceed the FA's expectations of a 30,000-50,000 crowd."

The club's chief executive Bob Makin added: "It's fantastic news; it's a dream come true for all concerned at the club - the players, the management, officials and all the fans.

"We're playing there before the big boys from the Premiership.

"Arsenal can't get there this season now - but we are!"

Brent Council has given the stadium a general safety certificate after two successful 'ramp up' events.

A community day was staged for 34,000 people and England under-21s faced Italy in front of nearly 56,000 fans on Saturday.

Wembley Stadium managing director Alex Horne said: "We realise that there is still some way to go yet and are digesting the feedback we have received in order to ensure that coming to Wembley Stadium is a fantastic experience for fans."

Boro boss Stimson is determined to make sure his side make it a double celebration.

Tuesday night's single goal win at play-off rivals York City has put Boro firmly back in contention after a home defeat by Altrincham.

Stimson said: "We've just got to worry about our own games now and if we win them all, we'll be in the play-offs come the end of April.

"It was a very good result at York and a fair one.

"I can't believe we didn't score six on Saturday but that's football.

"We will try to get another win on the bounce this weekend although every team is still playing for something either at the top or the bottom.

"The most important thing is to approach the game like we have done recently and we won't go far wrong."

Boro visit Crawley Town this Saturday before Trophy final opponents Kidderminster come to Broadhall Way on Tuesday night.

Stimson added: "Sure it's a dress rehearsal on Tuesday but I don't think it will have any extra significance.

"They've still got a chance of making the play-offs and we both need the points for that reason."

Midfielder Adam Miller, sidelined in recent weeks, is likely to be available.

A number of squad members were featuring for the reserves against Colchester United last night (Wednesday).
