It’s here so get your beer – the day has arrived for the start of the Hitchin beer festival!
Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival starts today, Thursday, from 5pm to 11pm. The gala of good beer and celebration of cider will continue through Friday, from 12 noon to 11pm, with the same opening times on Saturday, at Hitchin Rugby Club, off Old Hale Way.
Organisers have ordered extra barrels of beer to ensure no repeat of the scenes last year when most of the beers sold out to thirsty punters before the end of the final day.
Organiser Jon Kirby from Camra North Herts said: “The beers are in. We’ve got 89 barrels which hold 72 pints each. “With 40 of those barrels double size – serving 144 pints each – we should be ready for demand this year!
“There will be 89 British ales, international ales, craft ales and six world food stalls.”
