A GROUP of schools are offering a programme of 24 different courses as part of Adult Learners' Week.

The eight schools, all in Letchworth GC, are hosting at least one course each, ranging from yoga and digital photography to playing rock music with your family.

The activities start this Monday, May 22, and go on for five days. They are open to anyone, even those who do not have children at the school.

The majority of the courses will be taking place after school or in the evening and a free crèche will be available for two of the day-time courses.

Fearnhill, Highfield, Icknield Infants, Lannock Primary, Radburn Primary, St Thomas Moore RC Primary, Wilbury Junior and Woolgrove are all offering courses.

The programme is being organised by the Letchworth Consortium of Extended Schools whose co-ordinator, Sylvia Daintrey, said: "We have tried to draw up a programme where there is something for everyone.

"Some workshops are specifically for parents, for example understanding your child's behaviour which will help parents find out what's really going on when their child winds them up.

"Other activities are for families to do together, such as creating a joint piece of artwork that reflects an aspect of family life."

There will also be Silver Surfers Day at the end of the week where two schools will open up their computer suites for people over 60.

Bookings for the free places are being handled by the school hosting the activity and more information about the event can be found at http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/highfield/extendedschools or call 01462 705123.
