Stevenage MP Stephen McPartland joined the runners and riders queuing up to congratulate a favourite with the Ladbrokes team in the town.

Linda Langridge has clocked up 20 years with the firm and her long service was recognised by Ladbrokes at an annual awards ceremony in Windsor where nearly 200 colleagues were marking up to four decades with the betting firm.

Linda, who works in the Old Town branch, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Mr McPartland who visited our shop to congratulate me on my long-service.

“Our shop has a real community feel to it and I love the banter with our customers. I started as a temp 20 years ago and didn’t expect to stay so long, but I’m still enjoying my job.”

Mr McPartland said: “It was a pleasure to meet Linda and see how much the customers appreciate her.

“I really enjoyed our chat and was delighted to congratulate her on the role she has played in the local community.”
