Jewellery described as ‘irreplaceable’ has been stolen in a Stevenage burglary, including a handmade brooch for the victim’s grandmother.

Detectives in the town are appealing for information following a burglary at a property in Admiral Drive on Monday, October 24.

Between 5pm and 8.15pm an unknown number of offenders broke a rear window to get inside the property, carrying out a messy search of two bedrooms.

During the raid two gold rings were stolen and a handmade theatre brooch, which was for the victim’s grandmother.

Det Con Karen Dewar, who is investigating, said: “We are very keen to speak to anyone who may have information which may lead to the recovery of these items. They have a very high sentimental value and are irreplaceable.

“The victim has been left extremely upset by this theft and we are hoping that because the brooch is so unique, someone may recognise it and we can recover it and return it to its rightful owner.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Karen Dewar quoting crime reference number E1/16/7669 on 101. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through the anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
