The sudden passing of Rene has shaken the local community. Her service of Thanksgiving was packed with family and friends who were welcomed with a recording of Goodnight Irene. Lay Minister Audrey Brand led the service, commencing with Abide with Me. Prayers for Rene and her family were said and the poem "Don't wait till tomorrow", recited. Barry Thompson gave the reading of John 14; 1 - 6, followed by the address and active life of Rene who started school aged three, going on to Robert Bloomfield School. At eight years old she lived in the New Inn at Campton Turn. After meeting and marrying husband Len, they took over the New Inn. They had four children who grew up to provide them with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Before retiring, they served at the White Horse in Biggleswade. After Len died, Rene continued to enjoy life, helping her family, tapestry and keeping her birds. She became an active member of the Shefford over 60's Coffee Morning Club, participating in holidays, trips and other social activities. in. Interment followed at the Shefford and Campton Cemetery.
