Investigation into Hitchin sexual assault
A WOMAN was subjected to a sexual assault yesterday (Monday).
Police are investigating following the incident in Hitchin, where a woman was inappropriately touched.
It happened at about 7pm, when the victim – a 23-year-old woman – was walking along Cambridge Road.
She was approached by a man who made lewd and inappropriate comments towards her. As she walked away from the man, he followed her and touched her inappropriately.
Dc Simon Goodship, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are hoping that someone may have seen this man or recognise the description.
“Officers carried out a full search of the area, but were unable to locate the offender. It was early in the evening so there should have been a few people around the area. It is also possible that he approached more than one woman.”
The offender is described as being of mixed race, in his mid-twenties and of slim build. He had short shaven hair and was wearing a dark waterproof jacket and blue jeans.
