ESTABLISHED trees in a play area have been hacked to pieces without authorisation.
Stevenage Borough Council has launched an investigation into the incident on the green space in Cook Road in the town, and is asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Today (Wednesday) a spokesman for the council said: "We were recently made aware of a report that a person has severely pruned two trees in the green space in Cook Road. We have inspected the site and are now investigating the matter further.
"We encourage anyone with any information to contact the council's tree officer, Richard Arnold."
