A BAND member who appeared on hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent has said the experience was “surreal”.

Josh Clarke, from Blonde Louis, along with his three friends Harvey Downes, 20, Jack Cherry, 22, and Jack Cox, 20, all from Letchworth GC and former pupils of The Highfield School, impressed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams, receiving four ‘yes’ votes to make it through to the next round of the competition.

The group, who often perform locally, had their audition broadcast on the talent show’s ITV2 spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent, performing their song Dirty, which they wrote in Josh’s garage on the Jackmans Estate in Letchworth GC.

The performance, which was recorded at the London Palladium in January, was shown on Saturday.

The 22-year-old said: “We were asked to come along and perform and the opportunity was too big to pass. It was a surreal experience and it was a total adrenaline rush.”

Josh, who has just completed a degree in commercial music at the University of Westminster, said music has always been a part of his life and describes the group’s music as a cross between guitar pop and pop rock.

“It really was an amazing and a crazy experience. To be able to perform a song that we wrote to 2,000 people was spectacular,” said Josh.

The group, who have been together for the past 10 years and whose members met as friends while at school, will be releasing performance dates and a single in the summer.

“We want to keep writing and do as many shows as we possibly can,” added Josh. “We enjoy spending time writing and making music, and it is an exciting prospect to be able to turn our hobby into a reality.”

Tune into Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 on Sunday at 7pm to find out if the group have made it through to the semi-finals.

If successful, Blonde Louis could play in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance, and win a prize of £250,000.
