INSURANCE worker Linda Riley has been awarded substantial compensation after falling over a pile of accident claim forms in her office.
An undisclosed out-of-court settlement was reached after Ms Riley claimed £5,000 from her employer, Norwich Union.
Ms Riley, from Fife, said she had suffered pain as well as loss of earnings since tripping over the files which had been left lying on the floor by another office worker.
The accident happened at the company's Perth office three years ago.
Norwich Union had a duty to provide a safe system of work and the untidy files presented a danger, Ms Riley claimed.
As such, the insurance underwriter sued the company's parent group Aviva PLC in an action at Perth Sheriff Court.
It has since been confirmed that her claim was settled through the award of compensation.
Ms Riley claimed that she was left with pain in her left ankle, lower leg and foot, and needed a course of physiotherapy.
She said she was absent from work for a period and lost wages as a result, and said she is still suffering from pain some three years after the accident.
