ONE hundred years of Labour history was celebrated in Biggleswade at the weekend.

The local Labour Party unveiled a unique insight into the party's century in North East Bedfordshire at the Labour Hall in Crabb Lane where the guest of honour was Luton Labour MP Kelvin Hopkin.

Ironically, since the Biggleswade Labour Party was formed in the 1920s the town has never had a Labour MP.

"Over 100 people attended Saturday's event and were all keenly interested in the exhibition," said Vic Brunt, 80, secretary of the Biggleswade Labour Party.
