Stevenage striker Matt Godden has been rewarded for his impressive start to his career at the Lamex Stadium with a new two-year contract.

The hard-working forward has bagged seven goals for the Sky Bet League Two club since joining from National League South Ebbsfleet United in the summer. Just last week Stevenege boss Darren Sarll said of the 25-year-old: “Matt has been excellent for us all season, imagine coming out of the Conference South and being told to lead the line in League Two, not support a front line, lead it.

“He has got the capability to hit 20 goals and on saying that I know I’m not putting pressure on the young man because the person he is he’d say ‘why didn’t you say 30 gaffer?’

“That’s the type of lad he is.”
