A PIT bull - illegal to own in this country - has been destroyed by a vet.
Following a tip-off, Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) dog wardens - assisted by police in case of a breach of the peace - targeted a home in Cardiff Close, Stevenage, to remove a pit bull from the property last week.
The dog owner surrendered the animal to police and it was taken to a vet and destroyed.
Pit bulls are illegal to own under the Dangerous Dogs Act and a spokesman for SBC said "it is normal practice for them to be destroyed".
