Joining something new, how about giving the Twinning Association a try? Knebworth has been twinned with Châtelaillon Plage in the Charente Maritime region of France for 17 years. A well known sea-side resort on the west coast, Châtelaillon is famed for its oyster beds. Exchange visits have involved groups for football, golf, tennis, painting, dance and gymnastics and English visitors have taken part in the Châtelaillon summer processions and celebrations. As well as organising visits for members of the twinning association, the local committee puts groups in touch with their French counterparts and helps them to arrange exchange visits, usually staying with a French family in their home and then returning the hospitality when they visit Knebworth. New members are always welcome, and there may just be some places left for the Sunday Lunch and AGM on February 4 at 11.45am in Knebworth Barns. The cost is £18.50 for non-members and £15.50 for members, but you have to make up your mind by January 20 if you want to come. Membership of the Association is absurdly cheap, £5 per family per year, contact chairman Joy Hall for information on 812609.
