The Hertfordshire Village of the Year competition and now goes forward as the county's nominee to the Calor England Village of the Year competition for judging next year. In addition to winning the major prize, the village also won the Best Community Project Award. The judges in their comments made specific mention of the tremendous effort achieved by St Katharine's Church members in raising half of their required targeted funds towards church improvements, and also to the excellent response of 86% that the village had received from residents to the Parish Plan survey. The formal presentation ceremony of the award will take place on Saturday, July 22 on Upper Green at 12.30 in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and Chairman of the County Council plus other members of the Hertfordshire Society.
