'I'll never forget how much they cared' - Letchworth mum receives flowers and card from Tesco Express staff after tragically losing unborn child

A Letchworth mum who tragically lost her unborn child last week received heartwarming compassion from Tesco Express staff who sent her flowers and a card expressing their sympathy.
Jade Costa and her family received the moving gesture from staff at the Middlefields store, where they have shopped since it opened in 2012.
And Jade told the Comet that the ‘beautiful gesture’ was something she would never forget.
“You don’t often hear the nice things people do for those in pain,” the 30-year-old said.
“I want people to know about the caring extra step that this store has taken. This is a lovely gesture in a tragic time – from Tesco of all places.
“It really means a lot to me, and shows that there are still decent people. The staff at that store are lovely and I won’t ever forget how thoughtful and caring they were.”
Jade and her partner Luke Costa, 32, learned at a 10-week scan on Wednesday last week that their baby didn’t have a heartbeat.
Through a lot of tears, they decided on medical treatment to help her pass the baby, with painkillers and a kit to induce ‘labour’ at home.
“The thought alone was torture and we hadn’t got to the physical pain yet,” said Jade.
“On the Friday we entered that second stage. My mother Carol was on one side, Luke on the other. It was painful and scary.
“It came to the time my mother had to leave for work, and she saw some flowers and a card on the doorstep. Luke brought it up to our bedroom. It was signed by the staff from my local Tesco on The Grange.”
The card was addressed to Jade, Luke and their daughters Willow, seven, and Phoenix, four – and was signed with several messages, including ‘All our love, always and forever’.
Jade said the whole thing was the idea of couple Dru Bradford and Joe Davis.
She added: “Although this story is a devastating one, it amazed me that the staff at my local Tesco cared so much. This beautiful gesture has helped me, knowing that we have this support.
“This isn’t the first time they have personally helped me. The staff there are amazing, all of them.”
