THE husband of a 25-year-old woman who died in a collision on the A1(M) on Friday has paid tribute to his “beauty queen”.

Lulu Ward is believed to have been walking along the side of the motorway between junction eight and seven for Stevenage when she collided with a blue Vauxhall Corsa shortly after midnight.

The mother-of-three was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Lulu was the most beautiful woman in the world,” said her 33-year-old husband Gary Buckland.

“She was absolutely stunning, just like a beauty queen. I cannot believe what has happened; she was too young to die. Losing her has left us all feeling so empty. I am totally inconsolable and will miss everything about her.

“Lulu lived life to the full. She had so many friends and anyone who met her never forgot her. You really knew when she was around, she lit up the room. She was outspoken but did always speak from the heart.”

Lulu had three children, two-year-old Lulu, Patrick, aged five, and seven-year-old Paris. She also leaves behind seven brothers and sisters.

Gary, who had been in a relationship with Lulu for five years and lived with her in Solihull, added: “Family meant everything to Lulu. She was devoted to me, the children and the rest of her family.

“Sadly her mother died just 11 months ago. Lulu was very close to her mum, she meant the absolute world to her, as did her dad and all of her brothers and sisters. As a family we have suffered a doubly tragedy in less than a year.”

Lulu was also related to Thomas Ward, who was fatally shot in the chest at a caravan site in Dyes Lane, Stevenage, last Tuesday.

A murder investigation is ongoing.
