PROTESTORS who want to stop thousands of homes being built on Green Belt land around Hitchin will hand in a petition this morning to North Herts District Council with over 4,500 signatures from townsfolk against the plan.
The West Of Hitchin Action group have gathered support for their cause in just two Saturdays from a stall in Market Place in the town.
Hundreds of hectares around the town have been put forward for housing by landowners after the council asked for possible sites to meet government housing targets by 2021.
