PLANNING consent to turn part of a historic town building site into housing has been extended.
Permission to demolish a two-storey building at the former Letchworth Grammar School site in Broadway and create seven flats and one house was renewed by North Herts District Council’s planning committee last week.
The plans are now valid for a further three-year period while Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) try to find a developer to take on the scheme, which was originally approved in September 2009.
A HCC spokesman said: “We applied for an extension to the planning application for The Old Grammar School building so that any perspective developers have the current planning permissions in place. This is to allow development to begin once the site has been sold.”
