THREE people have been arrested following a suspected arson attack on a hotel where around 100 people were staying last night (Wednesday).

Two men and a woman were taken into custody on suspicion of starting the fire at the Ibis hotel in The Forum, Stevenage.

Shortly before 3.15am the fire service and police were called to the hotel after fire broke out in two rooms.

Guests were evacuated as two fire engines from Stevenage and Hitchin dealt with the blaze.

The fire was declared out at just after 3.30am and guests were allowed to return to their rooms.

A fire investigation is ongoing this morning.
