In many parts of Comet country water levels have dropped. This is the case at the sailing lake in Fairlands Valley Park, Stevenage, where the heat has also left fish struggling for oxygen.
Billy Brogan, senior instructor at the park, said: "We've got aerators in for the fish because the water has been warmer and there's less oxygen in it so we're pumping oxygen in for them."
Although water levels are low, Mr Brogan said they were "not tremendously low".
He added: "If the lake dries out, the lake dries out, we're not a reservoir. It is a leisure facility not a reservoir."
However, on the plus side Mr Brogan said the lake and the park had been "very busy".
"We've got quite a lot of kids on courses and a fair few fishermen," he said.
