SPIDERMAN, Dennis the Menace and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz were just some of the favourite characters Stevenage schoolchildren chose to dress up as to celebrate World Book Day.
Pupils at Camps Hill School in Chells Way, Stevenage, and at Shephalbury Park School in Burydale, Stevenage, looked great in their home-made costumes.
Gail Cropley, deputy head at Shephalbury Park School, said: "It was lovely to see so many wonderful costumes. The world book event really encourages children to pick up a book."
The children were each given a £1 book token to celebrate World Book Day.
