SOMETHING suspicious went bump in the night in Stevenage just hours after England's World Cup match against Sweden.
A family in Balmoral Close woke up to find a man in their home. They think he may have been wearing a white England shirt.
It happened at 1.20am on June 21 and the intruder ran off when he was confronted.
The patio doors had been left unlocked and it is believed the man got in that way.
Det Insp Damien Kennedy said: "This was a very unusual and rare incident. The family involved are understandably shaken by it.
"It could be that the offender was simply walking past the house after watching the match and wandered in or it could be that he had been in the area for some time. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him."
Anyone with information is asked to ring Det Sgt Dave Chenery on 01438 757143.
