A swimming centre will be shut to the public while mechanical work is carried out.

The building work to create new changing facilities at Hitchin Swimming Centre and three new fitness and leisure studios for Archers Health and Fitness has begun.

The next phase of the £1.5m project involves carrying out electrical works. In order to perform the necessary work the power to the building will need to be switched off.

Stevenage Leisure Limited, which manages Hitchin Swimming Centre on behalf of North Hertfordshire District Council, need to temporarily close all facilities to the public.

Work is proposed to start on December 9 and will last approximately three days.
