OFFICIAL plans for a former Royal Mail sorting office will be submitted “within a few weeks”.
The Hitchin site, situated between Portmill Lane and Hermitage Road, was bought by Hitchin-based Whitebarn Developments.
The company says it wants to redevelop the site, building a mix of residential and leisure facilities, restaurants and cafes, as well as a hotel.
Mark Shadbolt, from Whitebarn, said the application would be submitted in the coming weeks.
It follows consultation with residents and discussions with council officers and members.
