Police are investigating the incident which happened at the Whinbush Road store between 2pm and 3pm on April 6.

Two men were involved in a verbal altercation before one man pushed the other, causing him to fall into the fruit display. The man was then reportedly struck with a shopping basket, before walking out of the store.

PC Claire Ross, from the Hitchin Intervention Team, said: “I would like to reassure the public that the two men involved are believed to be known to each other and this was an isolated incident.
