A Hitchin park set to play home to a children’s splash park is also to see major landscaping work take place.
North Herts District Council’s Hitchin area committee meeting heard that Bancroft Recreation Ground will see its four public tennis courts demolished and landscaped over with the topsoil collected from the splash park project a matter of yards away.
It was also confirmed it is ‘all systems go’ for the splash park to open in May – although an exact date has yet to be announced.
A council spokesman said: “We plan to remove the eyesore of the tennis courts that have fallen into disrepair and landscape them with the excavated soil.”
