A CONTEST which seeks to find the best young, local talent has been organised, with the winner set to perform at a Rhythms of the World event.

Hitchin’s Got Talent will be held in the town’s Bancroft Youth Centre on Saturday, June 22.

The contest, organised by The Voice of Hitchin Youth and supported by North Herts District Council (NHDC), is open to all people in the town and surrounding area aged between 11 and 19.

The winner will perform on the Ice House Stage at the RotW funday in the town centre on July 14.

Cllr Tricia Cowley, NHDC’s portfolio holder for community engagement, said: “Performing on the Ice House Stage and taking part in the youth talent competition is a fantastic and fun way for young people to showcase their talent.

“It is also a great way for young people to get involved in the arts and meet like-minded people, which is why we are delighted to be supporting this worthwhile initiative.”

Any talent or act is welcome, from musicians, to dancers, to magicians. All entrants must live or go to school in Hitchin and not have appeared at the festival as an individual before.
