Hitchin-based charity Animal Free Research UK is to hold a charity dog walk next weekend.

The 1½-mile Oughtenhead Common walk will help the charity’s Get Your Frock On! drive, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month alongside Breast Cancer UK.

The two charities have joined forces to fund three years of animal-free breast cancer research, for which they aim to raise £90,000.

The Get Your Frock On! name comes from the idea of “getting smart about breast cancer”, with fundraisers invited to dress smartly in frocks, hats and bow ties.

Danielle Goodwin from Animal Free Research UK said: “The dog walk is a bit of fun but with a serious purpose. Together, we will be helping to save people and animals and to learn how we can potentially stop breast cancer in its tracks.”

Meet at 9.45am next Saturday at the Swinburne Avenue car park for a 10am start. It’s £10 per family. Book at bit.ly/Dogwalk2017 or search for Hitchin on Eventbrite.
