A team of Hitchin carers are celebrating after inspectors gave them the highest possible rating.

Anchusa Care, based in Bancroft, has received an overall ‘outstanding’ grade after a visit from the Care Quality Commission.

The CQC team gave Anchusa ‘outstanding’ scores for leadership and care, with ‘good’ ratings for safety, effectiveness and responsiveness.

Owner and founder Kelly Wagg told the Comet she and the team were delighted to get such a glowing CQC report in their first year.

She said: “I named Anchusa Care after my grandparents’ house, where my late grandma looked after my late grandfather with advanced dementia.

“Our service really is a reflection of them. I ensure the phrase ‘care that’s good enough for your mum’ is instilled into every member of staff – if the care we deliver isn’t good enough for our mums, then it’s not good enough for anyone else’s.”
