Does your child have the voice for a live performance of Walking in the Air, centrepiece of Christmas classic The Snowman?
Hitchin Band is looking for one or more young singers to take centre stage during their live accompaniment of the much-loved animated film at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, December 2.
Boys and girls aged eight to 16 are invited to audition for the vocal solo in Walking in the Air. Three performances are planned, so more than one soloist may be needed.
Walking in the Air, the only non-instrumental segment of Howard Blake’s musical score, was sung by St Paul’s Cathedral choirboy Peter Auty in the 1982 film. A version sung by Welsh chorister Aled Jones in 1985 reached number five in the UK charts.
Parents or guardians of children interested in singing the solo with Hitchin Band should register their interest at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/V3MKCGB before a deadline at 6pm this Sunday, October 8.
Further details and audition materials will then be sent out by email, with applicants asked to send audition recordings in mp3 format no later than 6pm on Saturday, October 21.
Tickets for the show are available at hitchinband.yapsody.com and from the Hitchin Initiative in Churchyard.
