The Rotary Club of Hitchin Priory held its annual pancake day fayre and races yesterday, raising £7,000 for a number of charities.
A number of races took place in the grounds of St Mary’s Church to raise money for Garden House Hospice Care and other Rotary-backed charities.
Talents Hair’s Aaron Maxwell – who also won last year – finished first in the gentlemen’s race.
There were three ladies races, with Alex Murphy from Raymond James, Sarah Tomlin from Haelan Therapy and Lenwell’s Patrycja Tkaczyk all crossing the line first.
Marks & Spencer’s Jonathan Reaney and HRJ Foreman Law’s Harjeet Panesar won the two fancy dress races, while Connor Constable finished first in the Pinehill Hospital Chase.
Curate Dan Drew from St Mary’s Church started the races, while former town centre manager Keith Hoskins handed out prizes to the winners.
Following the races, Rotary club president Susan Hill-Bird thanked everyone involved.
