A Hitchin man has been fined £1,000 over a “grossly offensive” phone call.
Gurmit Singh Hunjan, of Sturrock Way, admitted making the call to a woman in Hitchin on January 16 “for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety”.
He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates last week.
Chairman of the bench Rosemary Bolton fined him £1,000 and ordered him to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £100 surcharge – making a total bill of £1,285.
