A YOUNG man has been charged with dangerous driving after four police cars and a helicopter chased a jeep on a high speed chase through a town centre.
James Flattery, 18, of Swinburne Avenue, Hitchin, was arrested and later charged after officers brought a green Cherokee Jeep to a stop after a ten minute chase through Hitchin on Monday morning.
The vehicle triggered an alert in a patrol car on Nightingale Road showing it was uninsured but the driver failed to stop when requested.
Police pursued the driver through the town with support from the force helicopter before the vehicle was forced to stop in Swinburne Avenue.
Flattery is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on May 11.
