A Hitchin man has been arrested and charged with assault after a police wanted appeal.

Officers asked for the public’s help to trace Levi Simms on Thursday – and he was arrested later that day.

The 22-year-old of Highover Way has since been charged with assault by beating, criminal damage and breach of a restraining order, after a woman was punched in the face in Hitchin’s Bradway on July 19.

He appeared in court on Friday and was remanded in custody ahead of a court date at St Albans Crown Court on August 18.
