Hitchin man arrested for theft of agricultural equipment from Ashwell building site

A 29-year-old man from Hitchin has been arrested on suspicion of stealing agricultural equipment from a building site in Ashwell.

Police discovered a hydraulic beaker – which is an attachment for a JCB digger – in a locked warehouse in Newnham, after receiving reports that the equipment had been stolen from the Station Road site on Monday, September 7.

Following investigations by Royston Rural Safer neighbourhood Team, the man has been arrested on suspicion on theft, released on bail and is due to return to Stevenage Police Station on October 10.
